HC makes NID of complainant mandatory for filing any case

The High Court has made obligatory submission of NID card of complainant and informant while filing any case with any police station or court against anybody.

A division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Monday.

The above order came following a writ petition filed by businessman Ekramul Ahsan who is harassed by 49 “fake” cases lodged by “unknown” people.

 

The HC directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police to trace the plaintiffs in the 49 cases and submit report within 60 days.

Besides, the court issued a rule asking the government authorities concerned to show cause as to why complainants of 49 cases shall not be detected.

A vested quarter allegedly filed 49 fake cases against Ekramul Ahsan, a businessman from Shantinagar in Dhaka.

Ekramul claimed that murder, rape, torture of women, extortion and human trafficking cases filed against in 13 districts in last 11 years.

In utter peculiarity, unknown people filed the cases against Ekramul at the behest of vested quarter to harass him socially and financially.

The petitioner said the syndicate would like grab his lands, house and factories.

 

Advocates Zainul Abedin and Emadul Haque Basir appeared for the writ petition while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar for the state.
